Kansas City, MO - A young man at the center of a recent Amber Alert has now been charged with multiple felonies by the Jackson County Prosecutor.

Anthony King, 18, is charged with robbery, assault with a weapon and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

According to charging documents, on Thursday June 21, King shot a 62-year-old man in a home near 27th and Elmwood and took the man's wallet, cell phone and vehicle.

The man's 15-year-old granddaughter was in the house during the shooting and left with King afterward.

The Kansas City Police issued an Amber Alert due to the girl's age, and the victim's statement that he wasn't sure if his granddaughter was taken against her will or not.

Saturday evening, Brajaean Sledge, the granddaughter, walked into a police station. Shortly after it was revealed that she was King's girlfriend.

King was caught on Saturday when officers saw him walking into a restaurant, arresting him after a short foot chase.

The grandfather is still hospitalized.
