KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Forecasters say Kansas City could get its first significant snow event on Sunday, with more winter precipitation on Monday.

A cold front is expected to enter the area on Saturday, with the first accumulating bands of snow arriving after 1:00 p.m. Sunday. The National Weather Service on Friday was forecasting a high temperature on Sunday of 31 degrees.

A chance for snow and freezing rain could switch into snow in the early morning hours on Monday, with an overnight low of 23.

Snow and freezing rain after daybreak Monday could switch over to snowfall between 7:00 a.m. and noon. The chance of precipitation was listed at 50 percent. Monday's high was projected to be 31 degrees.

The KMBC 9 News First Alert Weather Team was expecting 2-4 inches of snow on Sunday and Monday, but the storm was too far off to lock in a firm forecast.
