The Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating after a Peculiar police office struck a bicyclist Thursday.

It happened around 6:20 p.m. at the corner of 211th Street and Route J, on the edge of the Peculiar city limits.

31-year-old Joe Fasanello was wearing a GoPro camera on his helmet and recorded the crash as it happened.  The video shows the officer cut the corner too sharply and slam into Fasanello, sending him crashing into the hood of the SUV before falling to the ground.

In the video, Officer Charles Wallace admitted to looking down at his phone as he was making the turn.

Fasanello can be heard saying,"Why were you texting? I don't care if you're texting..." until the officer interrupts him with "I wasn't texting. I was looking at my phone."

"Either way," Fasanello says.

"I know," Officer Wallace says. "It was my bad."

Fasanello says he only has some scrapes and bruises.  He plans to see a doctor.

The video had raked up more than 100,000 views on YouTube by midday Friday.
