Former Jackson County Exec Mike Sanders faces 5 years and $250K fine

Kansas City, MO - Former Jackson County Executive Mike Sanders faces up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine when he's sentenced next month in federal court.   

Sanders pled guilty in December to misusing thousands of dollars of campaign money for personal expenses.

Prosecutors are expected to request that Sanders pay $40,000 in restitution, on top of any fine.

Sanders is scheduled to be sentenced on September 19th.

His former chief of staff, Calvin Williford, is scheduled for sentencing the next day.
