Kansas City investigators want help to identify illegal dumpers

Kansas City, MO - The city is hoping to identify a couple of people who were seen dumping junk at least three times in March near 29th and Poplar.

The city has set up surveillance cameras in known illegal dumping areas and captured the pair, a man and a woman, dumping loads of furniture, bags of clothes and housewares from their blue, full-sized SUV and trailer.

Kansas City illegal dumping investigator Alan Ashurst believes they may run a small business.

"They're cleaning out peoples' homes that don't want to take a bunch of stuff with them," Ashurst said. "I've found some tires, stuff like that."

The two dumpers have a trailer that obscures the license plate on their vehicle.

To report illegal dumping in Kansas City, people are encouraged to call (816) 513-DUMP (3867).
