Motorcycles are rolling out... be aware, and be safe!

Kansas City, MO - With warmer spring weather here, garages are opening and two-wheeled machines are rolling out.  But experts warn, even veteran motorcycle riders can slip up.

May is Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month

George Tart, program coordinator of the Missouri Motorcycle Safety Program, says all riders should refresh their riding skills, and take a safety course at least every other year.

It's National Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month
Because motorcycles are smaller than most vehicles, they can be difficult to see. Their size can also cause other drivers to misjudge their speed and distance. It's okay to take the extra few seconds to let them pass. #sharetheroad

And before rolling out on the open road, Tart suggests you check the bike first - tire pressure, fluids, gauges, etc.  Then go on a test run in a big parking lot - testing reflexes, getting familiar with the bike after a long winter.

May is Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month. Warmer weather will bring out more riders. Drive aware. Ride aware.#MotorcycleSafety
