Kansas City, MO - The American Red Cross is opening multiple resource centers, including in the Kansas City Metro, for people affected by flooding in Kansas and Missouri.

The centers are billed as "one-stop shops" where people can seek all sorts of assistance.

Red Cross has set up the first center at Silverstein Eye Centers Arena in Independence.

It is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 25th.

The Red Cross joins with representatives from state government, non-profit and religious-affiliated disaster relief organizations. The idea is to take some of the stress out an already bad situation and get assistance faster.

People seeking assistance will need some documentation, said Angie Springs, Red Cross spokeswoman.

"Bring a proof of residency," Springs said. "We also want to make sure that we can verify that address of where they live. We also want them to bring their other I.D. with them. We should hopefully be able to point them in the right direction."

Several more combined resource centers in the region will be open the next few days.
