Search for mass shooting suspect worries KCK residents

A normally calm residential neighborhood in Kansas City, Kansas was disrupted Tuesday by the arrival of a police SWAT team, looking for a man who is wanted in four murders.

Hugo Villanueva-Morales is one of two men who are charged in the early Sunday mass shooting at Tequila KC, which left four people dead and five injured. The other suspect was caught Sunday.

A duplex on Riverview, North of Central Avenue, is less than one mile from the nightclub where the violence occurred. A tip led police to the home Tuesday afternoon.

Police used a bullhorn and a concussion "flash bang" grenade before entering the home, but after a search, they were still engaged in a manhunt.

"Nothing really interesting has ever happened around this neighborhood," said Danial Aguilar, who lives near the duplex. "Now that what happened and them maybe thinking that the suspect lived around here makes things kind of scary."

KCK Police did not say what led them to the duplex, or whether they believe Villanueva-Morales is still in the area.

"I walked my dogs around 3 p.m.," Aguilar said. "The family members are always outside of their houses, relaxing, sitting on their porch, and it might have been that I've seen the suspect, maybe."
