SHAWNEE, Kan. -- A Shawnee man is hoping to ensure kids across the metro have a happy holiday season, even if their parents can't afford to buy them presents, and if Santa can't quite find his way down their chimney.

Robbie Ray is a chiropractor in Shawnee. He told KMBZ that when he was a kid, he benefited from donated gifts to ensure he had a Merry Christmas.

Now, he has a goal of collecting 100 bikes to ensure kids in need won't be disappointed for the holidays.

"I've been one of these kids, who needs to go get a bike or a Christmas toy from somebody that was donating it," Ray said. "So that's kind of inspiring to me."

Robbie is already halfway to his goal - he estimates he has already collected between 50 and 60 bikes and donations of over $1,000 have poured in from good samaritans who want to help out.

"Those are going to buy tubes, tires, handgrips, just to make sure the bikes are really nice and safe, and really good," Ray explained.

The bikes will be given out in association with the Warriors for Wyandotte organization. If you want to donate a bike, give Robbie a call at (913) 730-8200. You can also donate via Venmo at Robbie-ray-1 or on CashApp at $RobbieRay.
