A double shooting in Kansas City around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday left a teenager dead and a young child injured.

The victims were shot outside a home near 44th and Cypress.

"It's chaos," said Lashonda Jacoway, a neighbor. "When I first came out I saw them grab a little girl and run in the house. A few minutes later, they all came out, put her in a car and took off."

When police arrived, they found an injured 17-year-old male. He died at a hospital. The second victim is a little girl under the age of 10. Relatives rushed her to the hospital.

The injured child was listed in critical condition.

"It really pulls at your heart when you show up and there's a young child," said KCPD Officer Darren Snapp. "All shootings are tragic."

Witnesses said someone walked up and exchanged words with the 17-year-old before firing shots. Police did not immediately release information about possible suspects.
